Dental Implants

Implants: The present and the future of Dental practice.

Dental implants are perhaps the biggest and safest revolution in prosthetic medicine since statistically, it is a relatively simple, safe and long-term solution to rehabilitate a missing human organ such as the tooth. In 1952,  The Swedish professor, Brånemark, conducted an experiment. In that experiment, he discovered the property of titanium to be biologically and functionally incorporated into bones, meaning that you strictly follow a specific surgical and prosthetic protocol.  This quality the Swedish professor, the Father of implantology, as he was later named, called OSTEOENSOMATION.

He first placed titanium dental implants in humans in 1965. Since then, the use of dental implants has been accepted by many scientific circles. With continuous research and developments, today, after almost 60 years, dental implants are a common practice of tooth restoration around the world.  In our clinic we faithfully follow the protocols mentioned above, having attended and trained appropriately in a specific Brånemark Osseointegration Center in Athens with the appropriate certificates.

Advantages

The advantage of replacing missing teeth with implants is that we do not grind healthy teeth for bridge supports and at the same time we are given the opportunity to avoid the use of removable dentures, resulting in individuals feeling aesthetically and functionally perfect. Also, the unsightliness stops the absorption of the jaw bone.

Apart from the very good aesthetics, their biggest advantage is the quality of life they provide to people who have lost their teeth, making it difficult for them in their daily lives: talking, smiling, chewing and generally socializing with those around them.  Our clinic has a permanent implant specialist with 17 years of experience, who deals with surgical and prosthetic implant repair.

Safety of Treatment

Given him preoperative examination, our experience as well and the international literature show that treatment with dental implants is safe, with success rates of 96-98%. Side effects and events are usually mild and relatively easy to treat. Maintenance for patients includes good oral hygiene by brushing and with interdental brushes or dental floss, daily. You also consider it necessary to review and clean the dentist every six months. The examination includes a clinical and - if necessary - radiographic examination.

Immediate Charging of Implants

A very important development in the last twenty years in implantology is the immediate implant loading of dental implants. Under the right conditions - that is, a sufficient amount and quality of bone, a sufficient number and size of implants, as well as the absence of inflammation - then we can place the teeth on the implants in 24 hours, and the patient can gently chew with them immediately.

In order for the immediate loading of the implants to be successful, it is necessary for the dental team to have extensive experience and knowledge. In our clinic, we apply direct charging in simple and complex cases as early as 2015, with the same success we have with the later charging (two months or more).

Usually, the patient's postoperative course is painless and in 24 hours the oral and aesthetic function is restored, so the patient can continue his daily activities.
